Effects Of Cannabis

When people ask about the effects of cannabis. They could be meaning one of two things. They could be asking about how cannabis affects your/their health. Or they could be asking what it feels like once you’ve smoked some cannabis. Firstly lets talk about the effects of cannabis, that is. “How it feels once you’ve smoked some”. As a ‘Pot smoker‘ for many years i think i am among one of the many people best to describe this to you.

If your smoking cannabis for the first time and not sure what to expect, there’s no need to panic. Its not as bad as what you read about and certainly not as bad as what you see on the television or the movies. Walls don’t appear to move and things don’t go weird. You do however feel different.(Disclaimer: If smoking cannabis is illegal where you live. Don’t hold me responsible for your habit. I provide this for information only. :p )

Being ‘Stoned’ as the most common term is called. When i first started smoking cannabis. Obviously my tolerance was low and my feelings were a lot different to what they are now. But i still remember them. I smoked some ‘joints’ with a friend and almost immediately felt relaxed. It was an amazing sensation that i knew i wanted to feel again and again. Naturally on my first time i smoked too much and ‘threw a whitey’ (SO named because of the way the colour drains from the face) which is kind of like a cannabis overload. Its nothing to worry about as your body looks after you. It didn’t take long for ‘the whitey’ to take control and i soon found myself throwing my guts up. Its pretty much the same as when you drink too much alcohol.

The effects of cannabis on the body can often be described as feeling relaxed, sleepy and overall happiness. For me when i am stoned everything just seems easier to do. And i mean absolutely everything! I find food more enjoyable (The munchies), sleeping isn’t a problem at all and music just sounds a whole load better.

As for the other effects of cannabis on your body. Well there’s lots of “reported” problems with the drug. However let me speak of my own personal experience. A lot of reports and sources claim that cannabis affects the memory. So they say you can’t remember things long term, or some times even short term. This might be true. I have problems with remembering things. But i think that’s just me. My brain is always thinking about things to do with the sites i run or what i have to do next. I don’t think its the cannabis that caused this. I just have a busy brain.

Some sources claim that cannabis will make you infertile. To me this seems like a typical scare tactic from the government. After all its what a lot of people care about…. a lot! If cannabis makes everyone who smokes it infertile. Then i would love to ask these sources how i have three children. Yes three. And the first two were born to my ex partner who is also a regular cannabis user (For the sake of this article. Regular = everyday for several years.) I also have several friends who have smoked it everyday for years. possibly more years than i have, They all have lots of kids. The average across us all is 3 kids each.

Other sources claim that cannabis causes depression, mental illness. For me this one bugs the shit out of me. Why? Because i suffered from depression for years on end with no cure from medical alternatives. I tried popping pills that the Dr gave me. I tried everything under the sun. None of it worked. I smoked cannabis and hey presto the depression has gone! I discussed this with my Dr (I am very open with my Dr as i believe its the only way to get a problem sorted.) He told me that if smoking cannabis helped keep the depression away and didn’t affect me in my everyday life. Then it would be a better alternative to prozac, seroxat and the other pills they wanted me to take. He saw an improvement in my depression and my overall well being.

Many sources claim that cannabis causes crime. That’s just propaganda and bullshit in my honest opinion. When people that smoke cannabis have had a smoke and are stoned. They can’t be arsed to go causing trouble. Sure there’s the odd few. But even if they hadn’t smoked cannabis. They would of done the exact same thing. Notice how the news love to pick out the phrase in their reports “The criminal was high on cannabis”. Be honest news reporters, it wasn’t the cannabis that made them do it. It was just who they were. Cannabis often makes a good scapegoat.

Things often speculated by these sources are that cannabis “might” Cause psychological problems. I suppose they are right. Cannabis might cause psychological problems. But there’s no actual proof. Ask any Doctor to show you proof. And i mean inconclusive proof that cannabis causes these problems. They can’t. Or at least i have never met a Dr that could. I suppose i could say the same thing about carrots. “Carrots may cause psychological problems in the future.” Just because i said it, Doesn’t mean its true. (of course it doesn’t mean it isn’t either!Carrots are evil.)

Also nobody has ever died from cannabis. Unless of course its fallen on them from a great height. There is no such recorded death in the history of the world that would suggest someone has died from cannabis. Naturally the anti-cannabis crew will point fingers at stoned drivers and the such. But just for a minute compare them to drunk drivers. Or even tired and over worked drivers. Yer. Cannabis doesn’t come close.  Still, you shouldn’t be doing it. It’s illegal and if you did have an accident whilst high. You might not have had the accident if you weren’t

The last thing I’d like to address is the physical dependency. WTF is that anyway? People often go without cannabis. I have done it twice (Both for long periods of time). It all depends on the driving force behind them. It’s a lot easier to give up smoking cannabis than it is to give up say alcohol, heroin, crack, meth,[Insert drug name here], painkiller and sleeping tablets. When ever i have gone without cannabis. I have suffered from a little bit of hot and cold sweats. Its not a great problem. I still function properly and so do others i know. Within 2 days its like i never smoked it almost.

I hope this helps address any thoughts you had about the

effects of cannabis.

I am hearing cannabis causes heart problems, I go nuts after 2 days without it and would not wish myself on the world in that state. Perhaps for me its psychological as I gave up smoking ciggies and went through the 30 day hell! Cannabis is proving more difficult for me. Congratulation to those who give it up and like me those who did not yet manage - KEEP TRYING and good luck.

Will be looking up the withdrawal effects and getting ready for “the void” my brain will have to go through to get off this sh!t.

Smoking cannabis is not smart - don’t do it do yourself a favor please.

When people say that coming down off of weed.. err “canniabis” is so bad, i beleive they only feel that way because they abused the privelige of having it in their possession. Yea i think it is a privelige to do it. In a way, its good for you. So is fruit, but you dont see people shoving that down their throats every second of every day. Get real. I KNOW smoking cannabis helps you escape from whatever it is in your mind that you want to escape from, but shit, you gotta have a lil break from it every now and then. Besides, save some for later lol.
“The longer you wait, the better it will be.”

Weed is too precious of a thing to abuse the way a lot of people do. I wish they just understood that..
